What beautiful weather we ended up having for our excursion today! We were pretty lucky!

The students learnt lots about many of the plants at the Botanic Gardens, particularly in relation to food. Hopefully they come home and share some of their learning with you tonight. It was a great way to finish our Vegetable unit.

Thank you to our parent volunteers for their help today; Leta, Michael, Carly, Erin, Madeleine and Paul.

Morning!

Only 1 more sleep until our excursion to the Botanic Gardens and Little Sprouts Kitchen. The weather isn’t looking too bad for tomorrow, current forecast is 17 degrees and cloudy with a medium chance of showers.

Just a few things to remember for tomorrow..

  • Students come to the classroom as usual tomorrow morning
  • I have said that students can bring smaller backpacks for the day with their fruit, recess, lunch, drink bottle, hat, pencil case and a book (to read if they think they might need in the break times).
  • If students have a rain jacket or umbrella, maybe pack it in the backpacks just in case of a shower!
  • We will head over to the bus at 9:15am, ready for a 9:30am departure. Could parent volunteers (who aren’t meeting us there as previously discussed) please meet us at the bus at the front of the Doolette and Reade buildings at 9:15am. Thanks again for your support!
  • We will be doing two trails at the Botanic Gardens; Food Glorious Food and Aboriginal Plant Use, followed by the Little Sprouts Kitchen class from 1-2pm.
  • We will head back to school at 2pm and students will be dismissed at the normal time

See you tomorrow,

Meg

I can not believe Term 3 has almost come to and end. What a crazy busy term it has been.

Today will be my last day for the week as I have Wednesday off to attend an event at my children’s school. Anne Doherty who the students have met before will be in the class on this day.

As today is my last day, this afternoon we will be watching the movie version of our class novel  “Escape from Mr Lemoncello’s Library”. This movie is G rated.

I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone  a wonderful holiday and I look forward to seeing every back and refreshed in Term 4

A few reminders before  I go

  • Please don’t forget to return all 2019 student Enrolement Slips by Wednesday
  • Excursion Thursday. Remember to bring a packed recess, lunch and waterbottle in a small bag. Don’t forget your hat. Have a great time 🙂
  • Friday Casual Day. Bring a gold coin donation for the wonderful Make a Wish Foundation
  • Friday Early dismissal 2.10

Masterchef; The salad

Our Masterchef Salad lesson was a great success! Students prepared a nutritious salad by combining foods in a way they thought would look and taste great.  They also had the opportunity to judge other salads based on the criteria mentioned.

It was great to see students who mentioned that they have never/rarely eaten salads before, having fun and trying some new things!

Well done everyone

Tomorrow we will be having our final lesson for our CSIRO Vegetable unit (other than the excursion next week of course).

This will involve students;
 preparing a mixed salad that is appealing and nutritious
 critically appraising the food they eat
 enjoying and eating a meal together

The lesson is prior to lunch but as it is a salad lesson it won’t be extremely filling. If you want to pack a lighter lunch for students tomorrow that is fine. **All salad ingredients will be provided.

Looking forward to it!

Meg

(stay tuned..photos to follow soon!)

What a lovely warm day we had for Sports Day on Friday.

Well done to all the students on their fantastic participation and effort throughout the day and thanks to the parents that I roped into helping out with some of the events and photography. It was really appreciated!

Congratulations to the overall winning team on the day, Jackson!

Here are some of the pictures from the day,

Meg
