Our Biomes are really coming together now! Students are putting in lots of effort and they are looking great!
With a few extra events happening this week, we haven’t had as much time as anticipated to work on the dioramas. Some students are finished but we won’t all be ready for presenting tomorrow as initially hoped.
So let’s lock in next Thursday morning (6th Dec) straight after the bell, students will set up their biomes in the classroom for their peers and any parents/family that are free to pop in and have a look. I will then collect them to mark.
My last lesson with the class on this is tomorrow (double lesson allocated). Ms Gill may have a little bit of extra time on mon-wed next week for students to add any finishing touches.
Thanks for your support with bringing in some extra things from home for students to use. Hope to see some of you next Thursday morning,
Meg

Hi families
As you know the end of year concert is fast approaching. Our class along with Room 18 have chosen our song with a message
Rise by Jonas Blue
For costumes we are asking that all students bring in a plain ( no logos) coloured top. On these tops we are going to do iron on transfers with the slogan ‘we don’t give up’. Students can choose any colour they like as long as it is not too dark. If students could bring their top in by the end of this week or Early next week that would be great. Then I will do the transfers and send them home ready to wear on the night.
On the bottom students can wear black or denim ( shorts, pants legging etc). They can style their outfit up with baseball caps, bandanas, sunglasses, spiked/fancy hair, jackets etc. The song has a cool hip-hop vibe ( gosh I sound old lol) so we are trying to emmulate that feel

BELAIR EXCURSION final
Posted by kristagill | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on November 21, 2018
Our Belair excursion is next Tuesday.
If you havent returned your note please do so as soon as possible or come in for a spare note. We have some in the red pockets in our classroom.
Mr Norman who has been the driving force of this excursion is organising a note with final details of times and what to bring. Eg packed recess and lunch, water bottle, hat, sunscreen school uniform and appropriate footwear (sneakers)
Thank you to those parents that have volunteered to come along. We have have had many volunteers across the three classes ( more than we need) so will let you know before the end of the week via email

We are well into our biome diorama tasks now! Last week students decided on a biome to research and then choose to work either individually or with a partner. Some students decided to focus on a general biome e.g. a rainforest, whereas others have chosen specific places e.g St Kilda Mangroves. Both are fine! They then began their research in preparation for starting their dioramas this week.
This Thursday, some students will need more time to research and others will be ready to start their dioramas. Just a reminder that if your child hasn’t brought a box in yet, could they please do so by this Thursday at the lastest! We should have a couple of spares if anyone forgets as a few students have chosen to work in pairs.
Also a reminder to students that if they have any other resources they want to bring in from home, to please bring this for Thursday and Friday this week e.g. particular leaves, rocks, bark etc. We will have a HASS lesson on Thursday and Friday this week.
Students won’t have to prepare for a presentation on these, we will set up a class display morning and students can walk around and look at/read each others. If we make it on a morning straight after drop off time, hopefully a few parents/family members may be able to stay and have a look also. I will advise a date closer to the time (possibly Friday week 7, TBC)
I have attached the student rubric below,
Thanks, Meg

Well done everyone on your efforts with assembly today!
It can take a lot of courage for some people to talk in front of large groups, especially your peers and I thought everyone was very brave and spoke well. Thanks also to the parents/carers who came along to support the students.
In HASS next week we will be starting our ‘Build a Biome’ task. Students will be creating a diorama of a biome of their choice.
What is a biome you might ask? A biome is a word for regions of the world with similar groups of plants and animals and particular climate patterns e.g. the desert.
We will start the research aspect of this next task on Thursday but could I please ask students to each bring in a box starting next week (between tissue box and A4 paper ream size boxes-no huge boxes please).
Thanks, Meg
